THE WALK TO THE TREASURE/ LA CAMMINATA VERSO IL TESORO
We walked and walked for a very long time. And then we saw something on the path.
Camminammo e camminammo per molto tempo. E poi vedemmo qualcosa sul cammino.
“What on Earth is that?” asked Dick.
“It’s a man’s skeleton,” answered Silver. “Captain Flint killed him. And look! His hands are pointing this way! Come on! Quickly! TREASURE!”
“Che cosa diamine è?” chiese Dick.
“È lo scheletro di un uomo”, rispose Silver. “Il capitano Flint l’ha ucciso. E guardate! Le sue mani puntano da questa parte! Avanti! Presto! IL TESORO!”
Suddenly we heard a strange voice. It was singing: “Fifteen men on The DeadMan’s Chest. Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!”
Improvvisamente sentimmo una strana voce. Stava cantando: “Quindici uomini sulla cassa del morto. Yo ho ho, e una bottiglia di rum!”
“That’s OUR song,” said Dick. “But I don’t know that voice. Who on earth can it be?”
“Questa è la NOSTRA canzone”, disse Dick. “Ma non conosco quella voce. Chi diavolo può essere?”
“Perhaps it’s a ghost,” said one of the pirates. “Run!”
“Forse è un fantasma”, disse uno dei pirati. “Correte!”
“Don’t be stupid,” said Long John Silver. “I know that voice. It isn’t a ghost. It’s … it’s… Ben Gunn! No one’s afraid of Benn Gunn, are they?”
“No,” answered the pirates. And they started to walk again.
“Non siate stupidi”, disse Long John Silver. “Conosco quella voce. Non è un fantasma. È… è… Ben Gunn! Nessuno ha paura di Benn Gunn, vero?”
“No”, risposero i pirati. E ripresero a camminare.
LONG JOHN SILVER SURRENDERS/ LONG JOHN SILVER SI ARRENDE
Suddenly, Long John Silver stopped.
“We’re very near the treasure, now,” he said. “Everyone start to look.”
All’improvviso, Long John Silver si fermò.
“Siamo molto vicini al tesoro, ora”, disse. “Tutti comincino a guardare.”
“Oh no, oh no!” shouted Dick. “Look over there.”
There, in the ground, was a big, empty hole!
“Oh no, oh no!” gridò Dick. “Guarda là.”
Lì, nel terreno, c’era un grande buco vuoto!
“Someone was here before us,” said Long John Silver. “The treasure has disappeared!”
Suddenly, we heard three gun shots: BANG! BANG! BANG!
“Qualcuno è stato qui prima di noi”, disse Long John Silver. “Il tesoro è scomparso!”
Improvvisamente, sentimmo tre colpi di pistola: BANG! BANG! BANG!
Three pirates fell to the ground-all dead!
“Run,” shouted Dick. “It’s the Doctor and his friends.”
Tre pirati caddero a terra: tutti morti!
“Correte,” gridò Dick. “Sono il Dottore e i suoi amici.”
But Long John Silver didn’t move. “I surrender! I surrender!” he said.
Ma Long John Silver non si mosse. “Mi arrendo! Mi arrendo!” disse.
JIM IS SAFE/ JIM E’ SALVO
“Jim, are you alright?” said the Doctor.
“Jim, stai bene?” disse il Dottore.
And he walked towards me with the Squire and Ben Gunn. “You are our prisoner now, Silver. Jim, I am very angry. Why did you leave us?”
E venne verso di me con il Cavaliere e Ben Gunn. “Sei nostro prigioniero adesso, Silver. Jim, sono molto arrabbiato. Perché ci hai lasciato?”
“Please forgive me, Doctor,” I said.
And I told him about the ship and Israel Hands.
“Per favore, mi perdoni, Dottore”, dissi.
E gli parlai della nave e di Israel Hands.
“You have been very stupid,” the Doctor said. “But I forgive you now.”
“Sei stato molto stupido”, disse il Dottore. “Ma ora ti perdono.”
“Doctor, where’s the treasure?” I asked.
“Dottore, dov’è il tesoro?” Chiesi.
“Ben found it first,” said the Doctor. “He hid it in a cave. That’s why I gave the map to the pirates.”
“Ben l’ha trovato per primo”, disse il Dottore. “L’ha nascosto in una grotta. Ecco perché ho dato la mappa ai pirati.”
“Come on!” said the Squire. “Let’s go! The Captain is waiting for us at the cave with the treasure.”
“Avanti!” disse il Cavaliere. “Andiamo! Il Capitano ci aspetta alla grotta con il tesoro.”
THE TREASURE IS FOUND/ IL TESORO VIENE TROVATO
We walked and walked for a very long time. And finally we arrived at the cave.
Camminammo e camminammo per molto tempo. E finalmente arrivammo alla grotta.
Inside the cave, there were mountains of silver and big pieces of gold.
All’interno della grotta c’erano montagne d’argento e grandi pezzi d’oro.
Then I heard Silver’s parrot. “Pieces of Eight, Pieces of eight,” it said.
Poi sentii il pappagallo di Silver. “Pezzi da otto, pezzi da otto”, diceva.
“We have work to do,” said the Doctor. “We must take the treasure to the ship.”
“Abbiamo del lavoro da fare”, disse il Dottore. “Dobbiamo portare il tesoro sulla nave.”
For five days, we didn’t stop working. Long John Silver was very helpful. I almost forgot that he was dangerous!
Per cinque giorni non smettemmo di lavorare. Long John Silver fu molto utile. Quasi dimenticavo che era pericoloso!
Finally, the treasure was all on the ship.
“Let’s sail for England,” said the Captain. “Our adventure is almost over.”
Alla fine, il tesoro era tutto sulla nave.
“Salpiamo per l’Inghilterra”, disse il Capitano. “La nostra avventura è quasi finita.”
THE END OF THE ADVENTURE/ LA FINE DELL’AVVENTURA
On the way to England, we stopped at a port in South America.
“Let’s buy some food and drink,” said the Captain. ” Silver, you can stay on the ship.”
Sulla strada per l’Inghilterra, ci fermammo in un porto del Sud America.
“Compriamo qualcosa da mangiare e da bere”, disse il Capitano. “Silver, puoi restare sulla nave.”
But when we returned Long John Silver had disappeared.
“We’ll never see HIM again,” said the Captain. “And he’s taken a bag of gold with him, too!”
Ma quando tornammo, Long John Silver era scomparso.
“Non lo vedremo mai più”, disse il Capitano. “E ha anche portato con sé una borsa piena d’oro!”
THE END/ L’EPILOGO
In England we all became very rich men.
In Inghilterra diventammo tutti uomini molto ricchi.
The Captain, the Doctor and the Squire lived long and happy lives. But Ben Gunn spent all his money in three weeks, and became poor again. Perhaps he is happy that way.
Il Capitano, il Dottore e il Cavaliere vissero vite lunghe e felici. Ma Ben Gunn spese tutti i suoi soldi in tre settimane e divenne di nuovo povero. Forse è felice così.
Once I was poor, but now I am rich. But sometimes, I have terrible dreams. I see Long John Silver, the man with one leg, and his parrot. “Pieces of Eight, Pieces of Eight,” the parrot says. And then I wake up and remember Treasure Island.
Una volta ero povero, ma ora sono ricco. Ma a volte faccio sogni terribili. Vedo Long John Silver, l’uomo con una gamba sola, e il suo pappagallo. “Pezzi da otto, pezzi da otto”, dice il pappagallo. E poi mi sveglio e ricordo l’Isola del Tesoro.
