THE ARRIVAL ON TREASURE ISLAND/ L’ARRIVO SULL’ISOLA DEL TESORO
Next morning, it was very hot. And the men were angry and anxious.
La mattina dopo faceva molto caldo. E gli uomini erano arrabbiati e ansiosi.
“Men,” shouted the Captain. “You can have a holiday! Take the small boats to the island.”
“Uomini”, gridò il Capitano. “Potete fare una vacanza! Portate le barche piccole sull’isola.”
All the men ran to the boats, smiling. But the Doctor, Squire and Captain didn’t move.
Tutti gli uomini corsero alle barche, sorridenti. Ma il Dottore, il Cavaliere e il Capitano non si mossero.
“Four sailors will stay on the ship,” said Long John Silver. So Israel Hands and three sailors stayed with the Doctor, Squire and Captain. Suddenly I decided to go to the island too. And I jumped into a boat.
“Quattro marinai rimarranno sulla nave”, disse Long John Silver. Così Israel Hands e tre marinai rimasero con il Dottore, il Cavaliere e il Capitano. Improvvisamente decisi di andare anch’io sull’isola. E saltai su una barca.
“To Treasure Island,” shouted Long John Silver.
And the boats started to move. When we got near the island, I jumped out of the boat. And I ran and ran and ran.
“All’isola del tesoro”, gridò Long John Silver.
E le barche iniziarono a muoversi. Quando fummo vicino all’isola, saltai fuori dalla barca. E corsi e corsi e corsi.
“Jim,” Silver shouted. “Where are you going? Come here immediately.”
But I didn’t answer.
“Jim,” gridò Silver. “Dove stai andando? Vieni qui subito.”
Ma non risposi.
BEN GUNN
I ran for a very long time. Then I hid near some trees.
Corsi per molto tempo. Poi mi nascosi vicino ad alcuni alberi.
Suddenly, I saw a strange man with long, black hair.
“I’m poor Ben Gunn, I am,” he said. “I’ve been on this island for three years. Some pirates abandoned me here.”
Improvvisamente, vidi uno strano uomo con lunghi capelli neri.
“Sono il povero Ben Gunn, sono”, disse. “Sono su quest’isola da tre anni. Alcuni pirati mi hanno abbandonato qui.”
“Pirates?” I said. “Do you know Long John Silver?”
“Yes,” said Ben Gunn. “He’s a terrible man. I was on Captian Flint’s ship with him. Please don’t tell him I’m here. If he finds me, he will kill me.“
“Pirati?” dissi. “Conosci Long John Silver?”
“Sì”, disse Ben Gunn. “È un uomo terribile. Ero sulla nave di Captian Flint con lui. Per favore, non dirgli che sono qui. Se mi trova, mi ucciderà.”
“I won’t tell him,” I said. “If he finds me, he will kill me too.”
And I told Ben Gunn everything.
“Non glielo dirò”, dissi. “Se mi trova, ucciderà anche me.”
E raccontai tutto a Ben Gunn.
“I will help you,” said Ben Gunn. “But, in return, can I ask you one thing? For three years, I’ve eaten only meat and fruit. Have you got any cheese?”
“Ti aiuterò”, disse Ben Gunn. “Ma, in cambio, posso chiederti una cosa? Da tre anni mangio solo carne e frutta. Hai del formaggio?”
“No,” I said. “I haven’t. But I will ask my friends.”
“Oh, thank you, thank you,” said Ben Gunn. “Now I know you are a good friend.”
“No”, dissi. “Non ce l’ho. Ma chiederò ai miei amici.”
“Oh, grazie, grazie”, disse Ben Gunn. “Ora so che sei un buon amico.”
THE PIRATES START FIGHTING/ I PIRATI COMINCIANO A COMBATTERE
Suddenly, we heard a loud BANG! The pirates were fighting!
“Follow me!” shouted Ben Gunn.
Improvvisamente, sentimmo un forte BANG! I pirati stavano combattendo!
“Seguimi!” gridò Ben Gunn.
We ran for a very long time. Finally, I saw the British flag above some trees.
“That’s your friends,” said Ben Gunn. “Good-bye, Jim. And don’t forget about the cheese!”
Corremmo per molto tempo. Infine, vedemmo la bandiera britannica sopra alcuni alberi.
“Sono i tuoi amici”, disse Ben Gunn. “Addio, Jim. E non dimenticarti del formaggio!”
I went towards the flag and saw a small house. Near it was a tall fence.
Inside the house were the Doctor, the Squire and the Captain.
Andai verso la bandiera e vidi una casetta. Vicino c’era un alto recinto/palizzata.
All’interno della casa c’erano il Dottore, il Cavaliere e il Capitano.
“We have abandoned the ship,” said the Doctor. “The pirates have started to fight! We have hidden our boat near a big, white rock. Pehaps we will need it one day.”
“Abbiamo abbandonato la nave”, disse il Dottore. “I pirati hanno iniziato a combattere! Abbiamo nascosto la nostra barca vicino a una grande roccia bianca. Forse un giorno ne avremo bisogno.”
“Doctor,” I said. “I met a man who will help us. His name is Ben Gunn.”
“Dottore”, dissi. “Ho incontrato un uomo che ci aiuterà. Si chiama Ben Gunn.”
